Dwarf Tossing as Job Creation?

Melbourne, Florida Republican lawmaker Ritch Workman has a brilliant plan for job creation in Florida. His plan is to repeal the ban on dwarf tossing in bars. Yes, those burdensome government regulations that forbid using midgets and dwarfs as human shot puts for drunkards' amusement may be repealed if Workman has his way. The practice was repealed in Florida in 1989, amid safety concerns, and concerns that it was demeaning to little people. But alas, in this recession economy, Workman sees great employment opportunities for dwarfs willing to subject themselves to ritual humiliation and physical abuse. Never mind that the sport can cause head injury, or that one dwarf who participated in this practice died of alcohol poisoning with a blood alcohol content quadruple the legal limit, a job is a job.

Workman argues that the ban on dwarf throwing is an unnecessary burden on "the freedom and liberties of people", and an example of "Big Brother government" that prevents dwarfs from obtaining gainful employment. Perhaps if he is successful in his quest, Republican delegates from around the nation can go enjoy some dwarf tossing at a neighborhood bar during the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa. It would make a great campaign backdrop for their "job creation" program and clearly demonstrate their position as the party that is trying to employ the "little guy".
